The progress of the GO MYCOWINE project was presented on October 28, 2025 in the Fruit and Vegetable Sector Working Group of the Food for Life-Spain Platform, as an example of innovation and commitment to biodiversity and vineyard resilience.

A more sustainable viticulture model

During the event, the progress of the GO MYCOWINE project was shared. This initiative promotes a more sustainable viticulture model, one that is more respectful of the environment and adapted to the challenges of climate change.

Elsa Álvarez Serrano, Project Manager at Vitartis, presented the project's objectives and results, which is being developed in collaboration with IDForest, Bodega Matarromera, Bodegas Bilbaínas, Bodegas Fariña, Pago de Carraovejas, Real Sitio de Ventosilla and Bodegas Grupo Yllera.

MYCOWINE focuses on the use of endogenous soil microorganisms and mycorrhizal fungi, a strategy based on natural processes that contributes to:

• Enhancing soil biodiversity.
• Increasing vineyard resilience to climate change.
• Improving the quality and complexity of grapes and wine.

Collaboration and innovation in the fruit and vegetable sector

The session also provided an opportunity to learn about other projects developed by COEXPHAL, INSA Business, Marketing & Communication School, Grupo La Caña, University of Murcia and NOVAGRIC, all of which are aimed at promoting innovation and sustainability in the fruit and vegetable sector.

GO MYCOWINE is financed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), with a total amount granted of €595,003.19 (EAFRD co-financing 80%).
